I don't believe the captain should be allowing first team members to go out drinking the night before a cup game.
It never happened in my day.
When I was captain we finished at the highest point in the league in the clubs history (before or since) and had our best ever cup run (quarter finals). This had alot to do with the planning and tactical ability of the captain - but importantly also had to do with the sober committment of players like Alan Brassell, Graham Richards and Nick Butler.
I for one suggest that players have an early night after a light meal of pasta.
I will not be at the pub at 6pm drinking.
I'm playing golf - so I won't be in the pub until 8.....

You will be pleased to know that all the players have blown out beers! this highlights the difference between the modern game and your bygone age!
back in your day it was 4 points for a try, leather balls with laces and no lifting in the lineout. drinking before, during and after the game was compulsory.
from what my father told me about you, when he played with you back in the eighties it seems you were quite forward thinking in your pre match motivation techniques.
he told me how you used to bring your cassette deck into the changing room and blast out your favourite track to the rest of the team, 'Gold' i think he said it was called! Apparently you always had a beach boys tape in the car as well!!! _________________ I'm with the fat bloke! |
